The staff at Shin Sen Gumi was great and made the experience enjoyable. Despite the small size of the store, the food was impressive, especially the Hakata ramen, which had a rich and flavorful broth at a very reasonable price. However, I wasn't a fan of the noodle texture, as the soft noodles were still fairly firm. The eel bowl was also flavorful, offering a satisfying taste. The jido kara was just okay, with the chicken not as tender as others I've had, and the accompanying sauce lacked depth. Store was well decorated.

My husband and I came for lunch around 1pm on a Saturday. The parking lot is actually pretty big but it took us almost 20 minutes to find parking. There was like 10 of us cars circling the lots like vultures. The lunch period is just significantly busy because by the time we left the restaurant, there were many parking spots available after 2pm. There was a tablet by the front door and as I was putting my name in, a worker greeted us, ushered us in and we were seated immediately. There is a menu with an overview and pictures of the food but they also give you a paper menu to fill out what you want and how you want your broth and noodles to be cooked. I really like this feature as I love my noodles to be al dente. Our waitress was super nice and sweet! My husband and I were ordering 2 Hakata ramens with gyoza. She kindly recommended us to do the lunch special so we can save a couple dollars. The gyoza was tasty but not a wow factor. One side was crunchy while the rest had the steamed dumpling softness. The ramen was also pretty good but not the best I've had. I really did love the noodles and they were perfectly al dente! The broth just needed a bit more flavor even after I added some chili oil and soy sauce. It didn't have that rich profile that I usually enjoy. The ambiance was average. There was a good amount of tables inside but I can see how they could accrue a long wait if it's a really busy day. You do sit closely to other guests dining as the tables are maybe about 2 feet apart from each other. Overall, it's a good ramen place with great friendly service! But for better tasting ramen, I'd go elsewhere.

There is an in-person waitlist at the door, and the parking lot tends to get busy. The restaurant has a small interior, which can become crowded. However, the food is good, and the employees are friendly. They will also be celebrating an anniversary with a special sale.

Always been my favorite ramen place in the world except in Japan. Price has went up nearly twice but compared to other places, it's not too bad. Service is very good. The kid's meal is really nice and the fish ice cream dessert is a must try.

This is hands down the best ramen I've had in town! Shin-Sen-Gumi Hakata Ramen delivers an authentic and traditional ramen experience. The ability to customize noodle hardness, broth oiliness, and saltiness is a game-changer. I'm a fan of hard noodles with a heavy dose of oil and salt, and they nailed it! The ramen comes packed with all the essential toppings, and the lunch combo with spicy chasu rice is an absolute must-try. Every bite is pure bliss. If you're a ramen lover, this place is a non-negotiable!

Shin-Sen-Gumi Restaurant (Rosemead, CA) Item: 1. Hakata Ramen | $15.00 | 4/5 Review: - I absolutely love the Shin Sen Gumi chains! I always feel a hint of Japan every time eating here with the workers loudly greeting you as you enter and when you leave. - I also love how you can customize your ramen just like in Japan. You can select your broth strength and noodle thickness. - The portions feel small, or maybe the portions have gotten smaller. I feel that a few years ago the portions were a lot bigger. Inflation - Solid ramen place if you are a ramen lover. Parking: Free Parking. There's a parking lot. * * * * * #food #foodpics #foodphotography #foodie #foodstagram #foodblog #foodblogger #foodiesofinstagram #yum #delicious #eats #eat #hungry #lunch #dinner

This place is so good I had to come here twice in a row while on a work trip! It resembles an Izakaya in Tokyo to me with the little tapas and how the staff greet you. Haven't been to an Izakaya that has ramen but I'm not complaining. If they dimmed the lights a bit and added more japanese decor, it'd be a pretty nice Izakaya! Anyways, had the tuna bites $5, Dandan noodles $13.50, eel rice bow $8, charsiu tacos 2 for $4.75?, gyoza for $5, and Sapporos on tap for $6 each. Great prices! And delicious most importantly (the charsiu tacos though are a little dry, needs lube!) Overall, fantastic service and good eats. Did I mention $6 beers on draft with Japanese tapas??
